Senator Shehu Sani, the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central at the upper legislative chamber has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to apologise to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential aspirant of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, over his security search and alleged harassment at the Abuja airport.
Atiku was returning to Nigeria after his stay in Dubai on Sunday when his aircraft was invaded by security operatives who allegedly searched his personal belongings, including personal documents.
After the incident, Atiku was quoted as saying, “I arrived to Abuja this morning to a search by agents of the state, aimed at intimidating me and my staff.”
Shehu Sani, while condemning the action of the security personnel, described it as overzealous.
He tweeted, “The overzealous acts of the security personnel at the Abuja Airport against the former Vice President Atiku stands outrightly condemned. We have been through this in our history.
“Intimidation and harassment camouflaged as routine. The FG should be humble and apologize to him.”
