And another weekend has come and gone again, the goals have been scored, the howlers have been conceded and Manchester United have failed to impress again. All is well with the world.
As always, there are players that have massively impressed over the weekend *Can Torreira please stand up*, these players have made it onto our elite Scooper Team of the Week Sheet.
P.S: No Manchester United player makes the list, but again you knew that already. Oh, you didn’t? Well, now you do. LOL
Here we go:
GK: Alisson
Alisson put in a complete performance to help Liverpool defeat arch rivals, Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday. He made a couple of crucial saves to keep the game open until Origi’s last-gasp winner.
DEF (CB): Joe Gomez
The young Liverpool centre-back was in prime form on Sunday as he was a rock at the back for Liverpool as they faced off against Merseyside rivals Everton. He made an on-the-line clearance early in the match to keep the Reds in the game and was an ever-present for the Reds throughout.
DEF (CB): Giorgio Chiellini
Juventus laboured for most of the match against Fiorentina, Chiellini inclusive, but Old Lady’s captain came good as his acrobatic effort gave Juve the lead and sent them on the way to a comprehensive 3-0 win over La Viola.
DEF (RB): Dani Carvajal
Carvajal’s wicked cross helped Real open the scoring against 14th placed Valencia. He was a constant threat down the right side for Real throughout the match and waltz into this week’s Team of the Week
DEF (LB): Aleksander Kolarov
The Serb defender kept his cool to score a 76 min penalty for Roma to help them snatch a draw against the much fancied Inter in a lively clash at the Olimpico.
MID (DM): N’golo Kante
The diminutive French man was a live wire as Chelsea got back to winning ways against Fulham. He made a crucial interception and also created the pass that set up the Blues’ first goal.
MID (DM): Lucas Torreira
The Uruguayan was a constant thorn in the thigh for Spurs and he deservedly wrapped up the game by scoring Arsenal’s fourth. It was a wonderful goal from every possible angle.
MID (LM): Rodrigo Bentacur
The Juve midfielder is gradually growing to become a force to reckon in the Old Lady’s team. He was once again in sparkling form as he got on the score-sheet as Juve thumped Fiorentina 3-0.
FWD (LW): Cristiano Ronaldo
The Portuguese maestro got on the scoresheet once again for Juventus as he broke yet another record in his career. He became only the first player to score ten goals after match day 14 for Juventus since 1957/58 Serie A season.
FWD (CF): Pierre Emerick Aubameyang
The Gabonese forward was a beast against Tottenham in the North London Derby and signed his name on the match with two well-taken goals. Mans is hot!
FWD (RW): Raheem Sterling
The England forward brought City back from the brink of a lifeless display against Bournemouth. Sterling is the scourge of every Bournemouth fan right now as he has scored in all of his six games against them. His 57th-minute winner for City set them up for an easy finish to a potentially slippery game.
There you have it! Scooper’s Team of the Week! What are your thoughts?
