Insiders at the Central Bank of Nigeria have revealed that the efforts of its Governor, Godwin Emefiele, to ensure more women come to the table, as regards the Naira has borne fruit as the signature of a woman, Priscilla Ekwere Eleje, has gone on Nigeria’s currency for the very first time in the country’s 59-year history.
TheCable reports that Eleje, who was the Acting Director of Currency and Operations at apex bank has been confirmed as its Substantive Director which makes her the first Female Director of Currency in its history.
Her signature on the Naira has broken another glass ceiling as the only woman on Naira is Ladi Kwali, Nigeria’s foremost potter, who is at the back of the N20 note.

Before now every naira note in the country’s history has the face, name, and signature of men.
