Lampard Opens Up On Why David Luiz Left Chelsea For Arsenal

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has this afternoon provided a brief insight into the club’s decision to allow David Luiz to join Arsenal.
On the back of mounting speculation that the Gunners were closing on a deal for the Brazilian veteran over the last 48 hours, Luiz’s move to the Emirates was made official last night.
The addition came as Arsenal’s 2nd of the day, after Kieran Tierney’s long-touted move from Celtic finally came to fruition.
Luiz’s move across London, though, for not so obvious reasons, came as far more of a surprise.
Arsenal were known to have been on the lookout for reinforcements at centre-half throughout the summer, with Laurent Koscielny’s departure for Bordeaux having left an even more sizable hole at the heart of Unai Emery’s backline.

As such, when Luiz’s name was first thrown into the mix on Wednesday evening, it was viewed as a long-shot by most that Chelsea would consider reinforcing a direct rival.
In the end, however, this is precisely what the Blues opted to do.
This came on the back of claims that Luiz had fallen out with new boss Frank Lampard, over concerns regarding playing time.
Such suggestions, however, have today been shut down by Lampard himself.
The Chelsea legend insists that there was “no fall-out, just honest conversations”.

He explained that “We had some conversations over the last week, honest ones, and the conclusion was that he should move on.”
“It’s a position that I have a lot of competition. Everyone has to understand that.”
“He has moved on and we wish him the absolute best, because he has been a big part of our history.”
“There wasn’t any strike. No fall-outs, just honest conversations.’
“As a player I want that as a manager, and I think I got that from David. Him not training was a decision I made as I felt that was best at the time.”
