Rachel Kolisi’s recent outburst after finding a woman in her husband’s direct messages is the perfect example of ‘what not to do’
An angry Rachel took to her Instagram in March to call out a woman who she believed had sent her hubby, Siya Kolisi, a sexy picture.
She shared a screenshot with the woman’s Instagram handle and revealed the location of a gym she frequents.
“Any of ya’ll follow this person? She blocked me. I’m asking for a friend. Her handle has changed, if someone could please send her details. As far as I understand, she trains at virgin active Claremont. Just wondering what her a** is doing in my husband’s DMs.”
Rachel added that she did not like being disrespected.
“My face is so red because I’m so angry, but I just want to finish off this situation saying that the days of women having to take sh*** and deal with sh*** are over,” she said in a video.
But according to the “other woman”, who was later identified as fitness model Marike Botha, Siya contacted her first.
Instead of getting sympathy following her outburst, many Twitter users slammed Rachel for being “insecure” – especially because it was not the first time she has called out “thirsty” women for crushing on her man.
She took a mini social media break after the drama and has no doubt learnt from the incident.
Here are three lessons you can learn from the incident
Airing your dirty laundry could backfire
Rachel put Marike on blast but all it did was result in questions being asked about her relationship with Siya. The Springbok captain’s exchange with Marike did not appear to be romantic, and it was clear from her “receipts” that Siya had been messaging her – albeit to put her in contact with someone who could help her with fitness gigs.
Rachel’s outburst led to people questioning whether Siya had cheated on her in the past, which would explain her “attacks” on women who seemingly get too close to him. In the end, all Rachel achieved was making her husband look like a cheater.
She made the other woman famous
After Rachel gave her followers Marike’s Instagram handle, many flocked to her page to find out who the woman was. Some even started following the fitness model – especially after she pleaded innocence.
Marike enjoyed her five minutes of fame. She considered changing her social media handle to “my booty made me famous” or “Miki Booty”. While Marike had thousands of fans before the incident, hardly anyone knew who she was.
Not only did Rachel make her a household name but Marike also gained scores of new followers after the scandal. She also did interviews with well-known publications such as Drum magazine, which gave her more exposure!
Potential lawsuit
Rachel is also facing a potential lawsuit, for sharing Marike’s personal details. Marike says she received “threatening” messages from Rachel’s fans and even had to get a bodyguard.
“My manager organised a bodyguard for me, so I could keep going to gym, and I’m also going to get psychological help. I’m extremely emotional and struggling to concentrate in class,” she told Drum magazine.
The model’s manager demanded a public apology from Rachel.
In the end, Rachel’s outburst caused her a bigger headache than she anticipated!
